Step-by-Step DIY Guide to Replacing the Display Screen on the Apple Watch Series 6 at Home
In this detailed DIY repair guide, we show you how to replace the worn-out display screen on the Apple Watch Series 6 yourself. Follow each step carefully and use the accompanying images as a visual guide to complete the repair with confidence.
Step 1: Extract the Broken, Cracked, or Damaged Display Screen
1.1. With the help of a heat gun, apply heat uniformly along the edges of the watch where the screen is glued to the watch body. We set the temperature to 170°C (337°F) and heated the surface for 30 seconds.

1.2. Insert a flexible pry tool in the seam between the broken display and the watch body, then gently rock up and down from all 4 sides to extract the damaged screen in one piece. Dip the pry tool in isopropyl alcohol frequently to help dissolve the adhesive.

1.3. Place 2 fingers under the ribbon cable connecting the screen to the power board and gently roll upward till you separate the tape.

1.4. Unplug the 2 connectors using a nylon spudger and gently pull the ribbon cable apart from the port.

Step 2: Clean the Surface for Shattered Glass Shards and Old Adhesive
Use a nylon spudger to scrape away the old adhesive and any broken glass pieces from the watch body. Apply heat as needed to soften the glue for easy removal. Clean the surface with isopropyl alcohol to decontaminate the surface before applying fresh adhesive.

Step 3: Install a New Display Screen
3.1. Using precision tweezers, remove the tape from the edge of the 2 ribbon connectors to expose the connection points.

3.2. Attach the 2 ribbon cables to the new display screen using a nylon spudger, flip the small flap securing the cables, then pull the tape over the 2 connectors.

3.3. Stick the tape back on the new display with your fingers.

3.4. Test the new display screen to make sure the touch response and connectivity are working normally.

3.5. Apply a bead of fresh adhesive along the edge of the watch body where it meets the screen.

3.6. Align the new display with the watch body and fuse them for a waterproof seal.

3.7. Wipe off the excess adhesive using isopropyl alcohol.

3.8. Secure the watch with a rubber band or a plastic spring clamp.
