Step-by-Step DIY Guide to Replacing a Wobbly or Loose Power Button Pusher on the Bose QuietComfort (QC) 25 Headphones
In this DIY repair guide, we will show you how to replace a loose or wobbly plastic power slider button on the Bose QuietComfort (QC) 25 headphones yourself. Follow each step carefully and use the accompanying images as a visual guide to complete the repair with confidence.
Step 1: Extract the Right Earpad Cushion
The power button is on the right side, so this repair only requires you to work on the right earcup.
1.1. Grab the bottom of the right earpad cushion with your hands and pull on it to separate the earpad from the earcup.
1.2. Grab the mesh with your fingers and pry it off the earcup housing. Two pieces of double-sided adhesive tape hold it in place.
Step 2: Remove the Outer Earcup Housing Cover
2.1. Unfasten two 1.5mm Phillips screws securing the outer earcup housing cover.
2.2. Flip the earcup over, then insert a nylon spudger into the seam between the earcup housing cover and the housing, and gently lift the cover off the housing.
Step 3: Extract the Faulty Plastic Button Pusher
Insert a nylon spudger underneath the plastic button pusher and gently pop it off the button PCB.
Step 4: Install a New Plastic Power Button Pusher
Grab a new power button pusher, align the plastic piece with the LED indicator on the switch PCB, and press it down with your fingers till the button pusher clips into position.
Step 5: Reassemble Your Bose QuietComfort (QC) 25 Headphones
5.1. Place the outer earcup housing cover over the earcup, then push down with your fingers till the cover is securely seated on the housing.
5.2. Flip the earcup, then fasten the two 1.5mm Phillips screws to secure the outer housing cover.
5.3. Align the mesh with the earcup and press down with your fingers so the adhesive tape bonds securely.
5.4. Grab the earpad cushion, align the lip with the slot in the earcup housing, then push the retaining clips into place.
