Steps to Replace your AirPods Max Battery Covers
If the repair process is daunting, check out our repair catalog to see if we offer repair services for your device. If it's not listed, we don't repair it.
Step 1: Apply Heat and Remove the Old Battery Cover
1.1 Using a heat gun or hairdryer, apply gentle heat to the adhesive on the old battery cover. Aim the heat away from the plastic housing to avoid damage.
1.2 After heating for about five seconds, take your flathead screwdriver or pry tool and carefully peel away the plastic cover while it is still warm.
1.3 If necessary, use the pry tool to ensure all adhesive is removed from the wire.
1.4 Repeat the process for the other side of the battery cover.
1.5 Use the pry tool to gently lift the cover without damaging the battery.
Step 2: Install the New Battery in Covers
2.1 Take your new battery (available on our website) and peel off the adhesive.
2.2 Ensure the battery fits snugly into the plastic covers, making sure the wire is properly positioned and not pinched.
2.3 Fold the battery ribbon to ensure it sits flush against the battery and is neatly folded.
Step 3: Apply Glue for Protection
3.1 Use a glue gun to apply a small amount of glue where the old adhesive was located. This will protect the wire from exposure to the elements.
3.2 Smooth out the glue with a flathead screwdriver while it is still warm to ensure a flush finish.
3.3 If any glue is sticking up, trim it with scissors until it is flush with the plastic housing.
