Step-by-Step DIY Guide to Replacing the Batteries on the Beats Powerbeats Pro in-ear Earbuds at Home
In this detailed DIY repair guide, we show you how to replace a dead or dying battery on the Beats Powerbeats Pro in-ear earbuds yourself. The repair process is identical for both earbuds. Follow each step carefully and use the accompanying images as a visual guide to complete the repair with confidence.
Step 1: Remove the Outer Shell of the Earbud
1.1. Insert a razorblade into the seam between the earbud housing and the outer cover, then gently work your way around the perimeter till it separates. Be careful not to damage the plastic housing or the cover.

1.2. Lift the housing cover at the back then lift it up and away from the button.

1.3. Remove any excess plastic hanging from the housing.

Step 2: Remove the Dead or Failing Battery
2.1. Lift the button and the ribbon off the battery shield and move it out of the way.

2.2. Extract the battery shield with a flathead screwdriver. Pry up the shield from the side, then push the tab to unclip the retaining lock.

2.3. Heat the 2 battery terminals to soften the adhesive, then peel it with a flathead screwdriver.

2.4. Desolder the 2 battery terminals, then pull the wire out of the way.

2.5. Pry the battery out from the housing with a flathead screwdriver. Insert the screwdriver at the bottom right corner to avoid damaging the circuit boards.

Ninja Repair Tip: After extracting the battery, test fit the outer housing to ensure a snug fit. Remove any excess plastic that may prevent the cover from sitting flush with the earbud housing.

Step 3: Install a New Battery
3.1. Grab a new battery and align it with the earbud housing. Make sure the green wire points upward and the red wire points down.

3.2. Resolder the wires to the battery terminals.

Step 4: Reassemble the Beats Powerbeats Pro
4.1. Align the bottom edges of the battery shield with the slots in the earbud housing, then push the retaining tabs with a flathead screwdriver to lock it into place.

4.2. Push the ribbon cable connected to the button flush over the battery plate.

4.3. Apply fresh adhesive along the perimeter of the earbud housing.

4.4. Grab the outer cover and align the tab with the lock on the battery plate, then press down till the adhesive hardens.

4.5. Wipe off any excess adhesive with isopropyl alcohol and a microfibre cloth.
