Step-by-Step DIY Guide to Replacing the Malfunctioning Power Board on the Beats Solo 4 Wireless Headphones at Home
In this detailed DIY repair guide, we show you how to fix the power board on the Beats Solo 4 wireless headphones yourself. Follow each step carefully and use the accompanying images as a visual guide to complete the repair with confidence.
Step 1: Remove the Right Earpad Cushion
The power board is located inside the right earcup. Identify the side with the charging port, as this is the earcup you will need to disassemble.
1.1. Insert a sturdy metal pry tool into the seam between the earpad cushion and the earcup. Gently work the tool up and down to separate the cushion from the earcup without damaging the retaining clips.

Step 2: Separate the Right Outer Panel from the Earcup Housing
2.1. Unfasten the 3 screws holding the earcup together with a 2.0mm Phillips screwdriver.

2.2. Insert the strong metal pry tool in between the outside panel and the earcup and work your way along the seam.

2.3. When the outer panel separates from the earcup, work the pry tool around the perimeter all the way up to the slider mechanism.

2.4. Flip the outside panel and unfasten the single screw securing the touch panel cable to the power board, then set the outside panel aside.

Step 3: Extract the Malfunctioning Power Board
3.1. Pry the battery out of the earcup with a strong metal pry tool and disconnect the battery connector.

3.2. Apply heat over the power board connector to soften the adhesive.

3.3. Remove the adhesive over the power board connector with precision tweezers.

3.4. Unclip the main wire from the power board.

3.5. Unsolder the 2 internal wires connected to the power board. Take a picture of the wires before removing them.

Pro Tip: If any connector is covered by adhesive, soften it with heat and carefully remove it using precision tweezers before disconnecting the cable.
3.6. Unfasten the single screw securing the power board to the earcup, then discard the old power board.

Step 4: Install a New Power Board
4.1. Align the 2 pins on the new power board with the grooves on the earcup and fasten the single screw.


4.2. Solder the 2 wires back onto the new power board using the reference photo from Step 3.5.

4.3. Connect the main wire to the power board with precision tweezers.

Step 5: Reassemble the Beats Solo 4 Wireless Headphones
5.1. Clip the battery wire back in and stick the battery to the housing with double-sided tape.

5.2. Reconnect the wires to the outside touch panel and secure them with a single screw.

5.3. Align the outside panel with the earcup at the top of the hinge assembly.

5.4. Press the two panels together till you hear them click into place.

5.5. Fasten the 3 screws on the earcup.

5.6. Align the earpad cushion with the earcup and press down till you hear the clips click into place.
