Step-by-Step DIY Guide to Replacing a Worn-out Audio (AUX) Port on the Beats Solo 4 Wireless Headphones at Home
In this detailed DIY repair guide, we show you how to fix the AUX port on the Beats Solo 4 wireless headphones yourself. Follow each step carefully and use the accompanying images as a visual guide to complete the repair with confidence.
Key Note: The AUX port is inside the left earcup. Check both earcups to identify the side with the audio port.
Step 1: Remove the Left Earpad Cushion
Insert a sturdy metal pry tool into the seam between the earpad cushion and the earcup. Gently work the tool up and down to separate the cushion from the earcup without damaging the retaining clips.

Step 2: Separate the Left Speaker Housing from the Earcup
Unfasten the 3 screws holding the earcup together with a 2.0mm Phillips screwdriver.

Step 3: Extract the Worn-out AUX Port
3.1. Remove the glue from on top of the connection points with precision tweezers or a pry tool. Apply heat with a heat gun or hair dryer to soften the adhesive. Do not yank the glue off the wires, as they are prone to tearing.

3.2. Unsolder the 2 sets of wires with a soldering iron set to 500°C (932°F). Take a photograph of the wire connections before desoldering to use as a reference when reconnecting them to the new AUX port.

3.3. Unfasten the 2 screws on the AUX port with a 2.0mm Phillips screwdriver and set them aside.

3.4. Insert a strong metal pry tool under the AUX port and gently work the tool up and down to separate it from the earcup housing.

Step 4: Install New AUX Port
4.1. Install the new AUX port and fasten it to the earcup housing with two 2.0mm Phillips head screws.

4.2. Solder the wires back onto the new AUX port using the photograph from Step 3.2 as reference.

Step 5: Reassemble the Beats Solo 4 Wireless Headphones
5.1. Tuck the wires under the speaker driver.

5.2. Flip the speaker housing over the earcup, align the 3 screwholes, and check whether the wires are out of the way. Finally, fasten the 3 screws on the speaker driver with the earcup housing.

5.3. Align the earpad cushion with the earcup and press down till the clips click into place.
