Step-by-Step Garmin Fenix 6X (Pro, Solar, Sapphire) Smartwatch Teardown Guide
In this detailed DIY teardown guide, we show you how to disassemble and repair the Garmin Fenix 6X (Pro, Solar, and Sapphire) multisport watch yourself. Follow each step carefully and use the accompanying images as a visual guide to complete the repair with confidence.
Step 1: Separate the Display from the Watch Housing
1.1. Unfasten the 5 screws from the watch housing with a T5 screwdriver and set them aside in one of the slots provided on the rubber work mat.

Word of Advice: There is a waterproof seal between the display and the housing. Be careful not to damage it, since you’ll need it while reassembling the device.
1.2. Flip the display over carefully, then disconnect the backlight and the display ribbon cables with a nylon spudger.

Step 2: Extract the Main Board from the Watch Housing
2.1. Unfasten the 4 silver screws securing the main power to the watch housing and store them separately.

Key Note: The Garmin Fenix 6X uses screws of different sizes. Make sure to store them separately to avoid mix-up during reassembly.
2.2. Disconnect the ribbon cable connected to the motherboard.

Step 3: Remove the Battery
3.1. Insert a plastic spudger dipped in isopropyl alcohol under the battery and gently pry it out of the housing.

Ninja Tip: Isopropyl alcohol dissolves adhesive, helping you remove the battery effectively without damaging it.
3.2. Desolder the battery with a soldering iron set at 500°C (932°F) and set it aside.
