Step-by-Step DIY Guide to Replacing the Speaker Driver on the Sony MDR-XB950-BT Wireless Bluetooth Headphones Yourself
In this detailed DIY repair guide, we show you how to replace the blown left and right speaker drivers on the Sony MDR-XB950-BT wireless headphones. Follow each step carefully and use the accompanying images as a visual guide to complete the repair with confidence.

Step 1: Remove the Earpad Cushion
Pull the earpad cushion away from the earcup with your hands.
Step 2: Extract the Blown Speaker Driver
2.1. Unfasten the four 1.5mm Phillips screws and set them aside.
2.2. Gently lift the speaker housing to reveal the wires. Be careful not to tear them.
2.3. Apply soldering flux to the connection.
2.4. Desolder the 2 speaker wires, then discard the speaker driver.
Ninja Repair Tip: The copper wire goes on top, while the red wire goes on the bottom. Keep this orientation in mind when resoldering the speaker wires.
Step 3: Install a New Speaker Driver
3.1. Grab a new speaker driver and resolder the wires to the main board.
3.2. Align the notch on the new speaker driver with that on the earcup housing, and press the two sides till they sit flush with each other.
3.3. Fasten all 4 Phillips screws to secure the speaker driver.
Step 4: Install the Earpad Cushion
Align the notch on the earpad cushion with the groove on the earcup, then work your way around the perimeter till the cushion sits flush with the earcup housing.
