Replacing the battery on your Apple AirPod Max headphones is a moderately challenging task that requires careful handling and attention to detail, but with the right tools and guidance, it can be accomplished successfully.

    Steps to Repair your AirPods Max Headphone

    Step 1: Remove the Speaker Housing Screws

    1.1 Pop the right ear pad off.

    1.2 Using the screwdriver with the P5 bit, remove the screws from the speaker housing by turning them about a quarter of the way (clockwise for screws 1 and 3, counterclockwise for screws 2 and 4). Ensure you do not completely remove the screws; just loosen them.

    Step 2: Pry Off the Speaker Housing

    2.1 Use your pry tool to carefully work it into the side of the speaker housing.

    2.2 Gently pry up the housing until it comes off.

    2.3 Remove the housing.

    Step 3: Remove the Speaker

    3.1 Switch to the T3 bit and remove the screws holding the speaker in place. Be cautious of the magnetized speaker; ensure screws do not fall into it. Note that the top screws are different sizes than the bottom screws.

    3.2 Remove the speaker.

    Step 4: Remove the Shield Cover

    4.1 Use the T3 bit to remove the first screw holding the shield.

    4.2 Switch to the T2 bit for the second screw.

    4.3 Carefully pop the shield out and set it aside.

    Step 5: Remove Additional Screws

    5.1 Remove the screws holding down the battery and power board using the T3 bit.

    5.2 For the last two screws, switch back to the P5 bit.

    Step 6: Disconnect the Battery

    6.1 Use your flathead screwdriver to gently pop the battery ribbon off the power board.

    6.2 Pull the battery out carefully and set it aside.

    Step 7: Install the New Battery

    Note: If your battery does not have the shell/housing around it, follow this guide.

    7.1 Take the new battery and place it back into its position.

    7.2 Use the P5 bit to install the two screws you previously removed from the inside.

    Step 8: Reassemble the Components

    8.1 Switch back to the T3 bit and reinstall the three screws for the speaker. Ensure the long screw goes at the bottom and the shorter screws at the top.

    8.2 Reconnect the battery ribbon to the power board by lining it up and pressing down.

    Step 9: Replace the Shield Cover

    9.1 Pop the shield cover back into place.

    9.2 Install the long screw on the top and the short screw on the bottom.

    Step 10: Reinstall the Speaker

    10.1 Place the speaker back in, ensuring the pins make contact with the connection points.

    10.2 Reinstall the speaker screws.

    Step 11: Finalize Assembly

    11.1 Place the speaker housing back on and tighten all four screws with a quarter turn using the P5 bit.

    11.2 Finally, reattach the ear cup to complete the assembly.
