Step-by-Step DIY Guide to Replacing the Screen on the Apple Watch Series 9 at Home
In this detailed DIY Apple Watch Series 9 touchscreen repair guide, we show you how to replace the damaged display yourself. Follow each step carefully and use the accompanying images as a visual guide to complete the repair with confidence.
Step 1: Remove the Damaged Display
1.1. Apply heat uniformly along the seam of the display using a heat gun. We set the temperature at 190°C (374°F) and heated the seam for 30 seconds.

1.2. Dip a flexible pry tool in 99% isopropyl alcohol and wedge it in the seam between the screen and the watch body. Apply gentle inward pressure as you nudge the pry tool up and down.

1.3. Slowly wedge the flexible pry tool between the screen and the watch body from all 4 sides and separate the two parts.

1.4. Wedge your fingers under the tape securing the ribbon cable and slowly roll upward till the tape is off.

1.5. Once you roll the tape off halfway, use a plastic spudger to disconnect the ribbon cable from the circuit board.

Step 2: Clean the Old Adhesive Spots
2.1. Clean the old adhesive from the edge of the watch with isopropyl alcohol.

2.2 Peel the tape from the 2 ribbon cables using the nylon spudger to ensure proper connection.

Step 3: Install the New Screen
3.1. Grab the new screen, align the ribbon connectors with the circuit board, then slide them into place to form a secure connection using a nylon spudger.

3.2. Close the clamps on the two connectors and pull the tape over the connection points.

3.3. Stick the rest of the tape back onto the new screen.

3.4. Turn on the Apple Watch Series 9 and test the display to make sure the touch works, there are no lines on the screen, and everything is working perfectly.

3.5. Apply fresh adhesive along the seam of the screen on the watch body.

3.6. Align the display with the watch body and press down to ensure a flush fit.

3.7. Wipe off the excess adhesive with a paper towel.

3.8. Secure the watch with a rubber band or a plastic spring clamp and wait 24 hours for the adhesive to cure.
