Step-by-Step DIY Guide to Replacing a Wobbly or Loose Power Slider Button on the Bose QuietComfort (QC) 45 Headphones at Home
In this detailed DIY repair guide, we show you how to replace a loose or wobbly power slider button on the Bose QuietComfort (QC) 45 headphones yourself. Follow each step carefully and use the accompanying images as a visual guide to complete the repair with confidence.
Step 1: Extract the Right Earpad Cushion
The power button is located on the right side, so this repair only requires you to work on the right earcup.
Grab the bottom of the right earpad cushion with your hands and pull on it to separate the earpad from the earcup.
Step 2: Extract the Outer Cover
2.1. Slightly peel the mesh pad back to reveal the 3 screws securing the outer panel to the earcup housing, then unfasten them with a 1.5mm Phillips screwdriver and store them in one of the slots on the rubber work mat.
2.2. Flip the earcup, insert a nylon spudger in the gap where the power slider button is located, then gently lift the cover.
Step 3: Extract the Worn-out Power Slider Button
Gently flip the outer cover over without tearing the ANC ribbon cable, then insert a plastic spudger under the button and gently pry the button pusher out of the main board.
Step 4: Install a New Power Slider Button
4.1. Align the little square groove on the new power button with the notch on the main board and press down to secure the slider in place.
4.2. Flip the outer panel and hold it down to ensure a flush fit.
Step 5: Reassemble the Bose QuietComfort 45 Headphones
5.1. Peel the mesh pad back and fasten 3 screws to secure the outer panel.
5.2. Align the right earpad cushion with the earcup, then press them together with your fingers until you hear the retaining clips lock into place.
