Beats Powerbeats 3 Wireless Review

I don’t even know how many pairs of headphones and earbuds I’ve had over the years. I’ve been on a quest for the perfect pair that can keep up with my active life. Wired headphones are such a pain, with their loose wires getting in the way, so I started hunting for a great wireless pair.

I’ve been using the Powerbeats 3 for almost a year now. I’ve used them for a variety of activities like biking, running, working out at the gym, hiking, and cleaning around the house. First off, the design is awesome! There’s an adjustable ear hook that keeps them from falling out. This has always been a huge struggle of mine. It can be so annoying trying to keep headphones in, especially while running, but the Powerbeats stay put. Even when you get all sweaty and gross during an intense workout, the hook keeps them secure. Plus the design is so cool! The Powerbeats look awesome and come in a bunch of colors. I believe you can even customise the colors to create a color combo that fits you and your personality. It’s always fun to see all the color combos people choose for the Powerbeats, and I like that they’re still unique even though they’re so popular.

I really love the simplicity of these headphones too. They’re easy to use and connect to your phone. Once you pair your Powerbeats to your device, it connects instantly every time you turn them on. So quick and easy. Plus, they’re wireless! I know this may not sound like a big deal but to me it made a huge difference. I love the fact that I don't have to keep my phone on me when working out (since I usually don't have pockets to keep my phone in). AND no more tangled wire dangling around while I run.

Obviously good sound quality is super important.  A couple things about this. The sound is super clear and sounds great! However, I feel like I need to turn the volume up pretty high to block out other noise. Around 65% up. But at this volume, I don’t hear the gym music playing in the background or cars as I run (hmm this may be a bit dangerous now that I think about it, oops!) Also, the wire that connects the earbuds to each other has a volume control button so you don’t need to take your phone out to adjust the volume.

A couple other quick notes about these Powerbeats. I’ve heard that they seem to have issues with sweat or rain causing damage. I haven’t experienced that yet and hopefully won’t! My long runs are usually around 10 miles so you could imagine the sweat that comes with that (TMI, sorry!) but I still haven’t had any problems. Like I mentioned, I’ve been using these for about a year and don’t seem to have any issues with them (knock on wood)! Another thing I really like is the fact that these aren’t sensitive to cold temperatures. When I use these for my winter snow hikes, my phone will die from the cold way before my beats ever would! Which brings me to my next point. Hats.

The biggest issue I’ve had using my Powerbeats have been when I try wearing a hat or headband with them. It looks and feels a bit bulky when I’m wearing a hat over them. I’ve noticed this during my winter runs or during snow hikes. This is the only time it could get a bit uncomfortable, mainly from my hat not staying put and from it pressing on the earbuds.

All in all, the Powerbeats 3 are pretty great. I love them for the design, simplicity, practicality, and sound. I’m also excited to see what else will be coming out and trying the latest earbuds! So stay tuned!
